CHILDCARE AFFORDABILITY

Action: This bill would create a $10,000 startup credit for new childcare businesses, and increase the Child & Dependent Care Credit, while indexing both credits for inflation. 

Action: This letter urges Chairmen Smith and Wyden and Ranking Members Neal and Crapo to include the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) in upcoming tax legislation. Specifically asked that the expansion reflect the approach taken in the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

Action: This bill provides a refundable tax credit of up to $5,000 to new family child care providers once they receive a state family child care license. This tax credit can be used to reimburse these new providers for expenses like playgrounds, cribs, training, supplies, and more. This credit will encourage potential providers to open up new family child care centers in their neighborhoods while also expanding the overall supply of child care and increasing choice and flexibility for parents. Action: This bill provides dedicated economic assistance to stabilize the child care industry and resources to child care providers amid the COVID-19 crisis by establishing a grants program for licensed child care providers that were in continuous operation immediately prior to March 1, 2020, to pay for specified fixed costs and operating expenses for a period of not more than nine months.
