September 17th First Day Of Service

Coach USA one of the largest bus companies in North America is pleased to announce today an expansion of service from Vernon Township to Midtown Manhattan starting on September 17 for a trial basis. The new direct route will leave from the Vernon Valley Plaza at 530 County Road 515 Vernon Township, NJ with stops in Manhattan at 42nd and 7th Avenue, 42nd and 5th Avenue, 42nd and 3rd Avenue and 42nd and 1st Avenue.

“Coach USA is very excited about this trial run. We have worked with the Mayor Shortway and Congressman Gottheimer on this project for months after seeing the Mayor seeking help in the newspaper for direct service to Manhattan. This was clearly a team effort with all parties involved,” said Sean Hughes, Director Corporate Affairs Coach USA.

The one bus will leave Vernon at 6:45 AM with a return trip leaving 42nd and 1st back to Vernon departing at 5:15 PM.

“I’ve been focused on getting bus service to the broader Vernon area since my first day in office. Working with Coach USA, Mayor Shortway and I understand the incredible impact better transportation can have on the local economy, property values, commuting, and job creation. I commend Coach USA for taking this critical step and putting a bus on the road. The key now is to make sure folks know about the bus service and to get them on board. The more people riding it, the more likely this will be a long term option for Sussex residents” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5).

A 10 trip commuter fare will be $150 and a one way fare will be $18. Tickets can be purchased at commuterwiz.com. The service will run Monday through Friday. The trial service was made after multiple discussions with elected officials including Vernon Mayor Shortway, and US Congressman Josh Gottheimer and the Coach USA survey feedback from earlier this year.

Mayor Shortway said, “I am proud to have worked with Congressman Gottheimer and Coach USA to bring this bus service to the residents of Vernon. I hope Vernon commuters, or those wishing to visit Vernon, take advantage of this new transportation option.”

The first trip will be on Monday September 17, 2018 leaving Vernon at 6:45 AM for Midtown Manhattan.
