Gottheimer Announces $40 Million in Federal CARES Act Resources for Higher Education Institutions in the Fifth District
Will Help Students, Schools in Bergen, Passaic, Sussex, and Warren in Counties
GLEN ROCK, NJ – On April 11, 2020, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) announced that $40 million in federal bipartisan CARES Act rescue and relief resources will head to higher education institutions in the Fifth District to: 1) help cover the significant financial losses many schools have suffered, and 2) to distribute emergency cash grants to help students pay for housing, food, and other basic essentials, in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.
This federal investment will go to Ramapo College Of New Jersey, Bergen Community College, Sussex County Community College, Warren County Community College, Centenary University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Felician University, Eastwick College, Capri Institute Of Hair Design, Parisian Beauty Academy Paul Mitchell Partner School, Empire Beauty School, Berkeley College, and Lincoln Technical Institute.
“One of my top priorities throughout this crisis has been working to ensure that the Fifth District has the resources it needs to combat the impacts this pandemic is having on our community – including on our education system,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “The bipartisan CARES Act rescue and relief package, which passed Congress and was recently signed into law by President Trump, includes hundreds of millions of federal dollars and resources for which all counties in New Jersey’s Fifth District qualifies — including dollars that are literally going out the door this week.”
