Today, May 21, 2018, Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) announced that Emily Mogollon, a senior at Hackensack High School, is the winner of the 2018 Fifth District Congressional Art Competition.

Emily’s winning piece, entitled “Insomniac Nights,” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year. As the winner of the competition, Emily will receive two round-trip tickets to Washington to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception for the new display in June.

“I was proud and honored to host this year’s Fifth District Congressional Art Competition and Art Competition Showcase. The talent of these young artists never ceases to amaze me,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “Congratulations to this year’s winner, Hackensack High School’s Emily Mogollon, and each of the dedicated young artists who submitted their artwork. I’m looking forward to bringing a little more of the Fifth District back with me to Washington, and seeing what these North Jersey artists do next.”
