Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) baked bagels, worked the register, spoke with employees, and served local customers at Wally’s Bagel Nosh in Closter. Gottheimer was joined by owner Wally Hassan, who has been serving the North Jersey community for more than 20 years.

In 1993, Wally opened his first bagel store, Three Brothers Bagels, in Hackensack. In 2013, Wally opened Wally’s Hot Bagels in Northvale. In 2014, Wally opened Wally’s Bagel Nosh in Closter, where he took over a bagel store that had been open since the 1980s. Over the past two years, Wally has expanded and revamped the Closter location. On May 12, 2018, Wally unveiled the newly expanded 2400-square-foot store, which employs 20 North Jersey workers.

“There is nothing small about the impact of small businesses on the North Jersey economy. They’re where the jobs are. They’re key to strong economic growth. And, they provide excellent goods and services, like the delicious bagels here at Wally’s Bagel Nosh in Closter,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “Wally’s Bagel Nosh owner Wally Hassan employs 20 North Jersey workers in his Closter location alone, and has been serving our community for more than 20 years. Thank you Wally and all our small business entrepreneurs for choosing to do business here, for investing in our state, and for creating jobs. In Congress, I will continue to fight to lower taxes, cut red tape, and invest in New Jersey infrastructure so that small businesses like Wally’s can come, stay, and thrive here in our state.”
