Speaks on House Floor about Iranian Regime's Bankrolling of Global Terror and Destabilizing the Middle East

Washington—Today, Congressman Josh Gottheimer spoke on the House Floor to urge the passage of H.Res. 676, a bipartisan resolution he cosponsored supporting the Iranian people and their demands for change.

“Since late last month, protestors across Iran have taken to the streets to decry their dismal economic prospects, Iran’s costly, aggressive, and destabilizing actions throughout the region, and an anti-democratic regime that stifles its citizens’ rights and aspirations and supports terrorism. While Iranians live under a brutal authoritarian mullahcracy at home, their radical government insists on bankrolling terrorist groups throughout the region, including Hezbollah and Hamas.”

“There should be nothing partisan about having the backs of brave men and women anywhere who risk death to speak out for what is right. Today’s bipartisan resolution supports the Iranian people and condemns the terrorist regime’s censorship, violent crack-downs, and systematic repression. The time has come for the people of Iran to enjoy their fundamental right to a peaceful and democratic government.”

Video from his floor remarks can be found here. H.Res. 676 passed today with overwhelming bipartisan support.
