Today, Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) announced that he introduced the bipartisan Combatting BDS Act of 2017. Gottheimer introduced this legislation with Congressmen Patrick McHenry (NC-10) and Juan Vargas (CA-51) to help states, local governments, and asset managers fight back against the politically-motivated boycott of Israel.

The boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement uses economic warfare to target the United States’ vital ally Israel by boycotting Israeli goods and services and sanctioning anyone who interacts with the Jewish state.

“If you seek to harm Israel, a beacon of democracy and vital partner for the United States, then we will do everything in our power to stop you.”
said Congressman Josh Gottheimer. “I am proud to introduce this legislation to help state and local governments financially combat this hateful movement. We must defend our ally Israel against biased attacks, and our bill does just that.”
