During August, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) visited with constituents and other employees at the headquarters of Prudential Financial, a global Fortune 500 company founded in North Jersey that provides insurance and retirement investment services throughout the United States. Gottheimer noted that Prudential employs more than 500 residents from the Fifth Congressional District at its headquarters in North Jersey and is the largest life insurer in the United States. Gottheimer discussed with Prudential employees the ongoing bipartisan efforts in Congress to strengthen and secure retirement for Americans nationwide.

Gottheimer highlighted his support for H.R.1994, the bipartisan Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement Act of 2019 (the SECURE Act), which passed the House in late May by a 417-3 vote. The SECURE Act expands opportunities for American families to increase their retirement savings and improves the portability of lifetime income options from one plan to another.

“I’m always proud to be able to visit such an important job-creating, American company, headquartered right here in North Jersey, and that employs so many Fifth District constituents — and to be able to talk with residents from my District about what we’re doing in Congress to help Jersey families,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer. “It’s already too expensive to live in New Jersey and residents in North Jersey and around the country are facing a retirement income crisis. The bipartisan SECURE Act expands opportunities for Americans to actually increase their retirement savings.”
