On Friday, May 11, 2018, Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) visited Belvidere’s Crossroads Diner to celebrate Mary Kay Day and discuss the importance of advancing businesses like Mary Kay, which provide the flexibility critical to many women business leaders and entrepreneurs. This past Saturday, May 12, 2018, would have been founder Mary Kay Ash’s 100th Birthday, giving the 8,000 Mary Kay Beauty Consultants in New Jersey and the 3.5 million independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultants globally a chance to celebrate the company’s history and the opportunities it provides women around the world.

At Crossroads Diner, Gottheimer spoke with Mary Kay leaders from New Jersey and across the country, including Vice President of Public Affairs Anne Crews, Independent Beauty Consultant Sales Director Tara Geraghty, and Senior Public Affairs Specialist Ann Burt, in addition to New Jersey Retailers Association President John Holub.

“As a husband and as a father to a young daughter with big aspirations, I understand that the success of women directly affects the strength of our economy and America’s working families,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “New Jersey now has more than 230,000 women-owned businesses, but there’s still so much more to do. Many women entrepreneurs are unable to access capital to start a small business, which is why businesses like Mary Kay are so essential and why I fight every day in Congress to lower taxes, cut red tape, and expand access to credit. Thank you to the Mary Kay leaders who took the time to sit with me today to discuss working together to advance women business leaders and entrepreneurs across the country.”
