Today, June 12, 2018, Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) received the “Champion of Health Care” award from the American Life Sciences Innovation Council (ALSIC). ALSIC works to support policies that foster an environment in which medical innovation can thrive.

Gottheimer received the award at his Glen Rock district office, where he was joined by Dean Paranicas, President and CEO of the HealthCare Institute of NJ; Lisa Yourman, Fifth District resident and Coalition Chair of Action CF; Lucy Montgomery, New Jersey Field Consultant for ALSIC; and Rebecca Perkins, Vice President of Government Affairs for BioNJ.

“Innovation is absolutely essential to getting families in the Fifth District and across the country the quality medical care they need and deserve. And with more than 78,000 life sciences jobs in New Jersey, it’s the key to creating new jobs and growing our economy,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “This morning, I was proud to receive the ‘Champion of Health Care’ award for my work to cut costs that hinder innovation, like the medical device tax. I’ll continue to fight for our doctors, patients, researchers, and companies, for policies that encourage growth and medical innovation. Ensuring access to quality care isn’t a Democrat or Republican issue, it’s a Fifth District issue. It’s an American issue. It’s a mom and dad issue. And it’s a Jersey issue.”
