GLEN ROCK, NJ – On Sunday, March 29, 2020, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) took part in a Teaneck Community Interfaith Call with local North Jersey officials and faith leaders, organized for members of the community to be able to come together despite social distancing and quarantining measures in place to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. The community came together to honor and pray for the North Jersey community, patients suffering from the coronavirus, for front-line medical workers, and for those who have lost their lives, as well as their loved ones.

“Right now, here in our community — as well as throughout our entire country — we are facing an incredibly trying time. Our faith is being tested. Our trust and our courage are being tested. Most of all, the American spirit is being tested,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “However, the level of community and cooperation we have seen in the recent days and weeks — right here in Teaneck, throughout Bergen County and North Jersey, and throughout our nation  — gives me great hope. We are all coming together like never before because we all know that we are facing this together.”

Gottheimer was joined by Teaneck Mayor Mohammed Hemeduddin, Teaneck Deputy Mayor Mark Schwartz, Teaneck Deputy Mayor Elie Y. Katz, Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle, Bergen Freeholder Tracy Zur, Rabbi Joel Pitkowsky of Congregation Beth Sholom, Reverend Greg Jackson or Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Pastor Jusung Kim of Good News Church, Reverend Dr. Keith Attles of Covenant Life Ministries Church, and Imam Sayeed Quereshi of Darul-Islah Mosque.
