Today, Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) celebrated the next step in increasing accessibility and transportation options for residents in Vernon Township and across Sussex and Warren County.

Through conversations with constituents, businesses, and local elected officials, Congressman Gottheimer identified the urgent need for more transportation options to New York City from across Sussex and Warren, particularly in Vernon Township, which has the fifth-worst commutes in the state. Gottheimer’s office worked closely with Vernon Mayor Harry Shortway and Coach USA to discuss a potential partnership, and recruited the mayors of surrounding towns to support the effort.

Today, Coach USA is launching a survey to better understand the demand for a one-seat daily bus service from Vernon to New York City. The survey can be found here and will be open until April 23, 2018. We encourage all residents to participate.

“The lack of affordable transportation options in Warren and Sussex County has gone unaddressed for far too long. This is a great first step and I hope that Coach’s survey finds what I’ve been hearing: We need more transportation options for our residents,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “I am proud and honored to have worked with our mayors and Coach to take this important step to creating higher paying jobs, shorter commutes, and new jobs in Sussex and Warren communities. This new stop will serve residents of Hamburg, Wantage, Sussex, Franklin, Vernon, and Hardyston.”
