Following his ‘NAY’ vote on the Tax Hike Bill conference report, Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) released the following statement:

“From day one, I made it clear that I wanted to work across the aisle to cut taxes for New Jersey families and businesses. This Tax Hike Bill went the other way and actually raised taxes on us in New Jersey— gutting our State and Local Tax deduction and our property tax deductions. Property values will go down and businesses and people are already being lured away from New Jersey. I joined Republican Congressman Lance in proposing a commonsense alternative — a bipartisan Tax Cut Plan that would have preserved the State and Local Tax Deduction in its entirety, cut our deficit, and slashed taxes for families and businesses of all sizes. I will continue to fight for tax relief for New Jersey families and businesses that deserve a real tax cut.”
