Tonight, Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) released the following statement on President Trump’s Address to the Joint Session of Congress:

“I am pleased the President addressed two key priorities critical to economic growth in my District—comprehensive tax reform and infrastructure investment. I’m also glad he applauded the work and profound sacrifices of our brave military, veterans, and first responders like Officer Padilla, a true American hero who joined me as my guest tonight.”

“Of course, I’m still concerned about his dangerous plans to gut the Affordable Care Act without an any replacement, hurting seniors on Medicare and forcing prescription drug prices up. We need responsible, bipartisan solutions, not divisive, anti-family policies that would divide our country and are counter to our values.”

“Going forward, I intend to continue calling balls and strikes—speaking up when the President puts forward policies that would be helpful to the people of northern New Jersey, and voicing my objections when his plans would hurt the families and businesses of our region.”
