Students Interested in Military Academies Encouraged to Attend Events in Newton and Ridgewood

In the month of October, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer’s office will be hosting two Fifth District Service Academy Nights for high school students interested in attending one of our country’s five military academies.

The first event will take place on Tuesday, October 2nd at Newton High School, 44 Ryerson Ave, Newton, NJ 07860, from 5:30pm to 7pm. The second will be at Ridgewood High School, 627 E Ridgewood Ave, Ridgewood, NJ 07450, on Thursday, October 25th from 5:30-7pm.

Both events will feature representatives from the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and Air Force Academy to provide information on the application process. Both the Navy and Marine Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) will also have tables and be able to answer questions. Representatives from Congressman Gottheimer’s office will also be present to talk about nominations, letters of recommendation, and application deadlines.

“Every year, incredible men and women from across America apply to America’s prestigious military academies. Their call to service is inspiring and commendable. My office is here to help Fifth District students during this process,” said Congressman Gottheimer (NJ-5). “It is an honor to nominate talented students from across North Jersey and I encourage any interested students and families to come here from the Academy experts directly.”

The deadline to apply for an academy nomination is November 9th. More information about nominations can be found here /service-academy-nominations. To RSVP or for more information on the Fifth District Service Academy Nights, please contact Patrick Sheehan at Patrick.Sheehan@mail.house.gov or 201-705-8356.
