Josh Gottheimer Urges Towns to Apply for Federal Grants to Support New Jersey Police
Today, as the Department of Justice opened the application period for the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Grant Program, Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) urged New Jersey law enforcement agencies to apply for these federal funds.
Gottheimer has been an outspoken advocate of law enforcement and all first responders. Last week, he spoke on the House Floor in honor of Police Week and discussed the importance of the COPS Grant Program at an event with Congressman Bill Pascrell (NJ-9).
“I urge local law enforcement agencies to apply for these resources to fight crime and the opioid crisis, to stop lone wolf terror, to protect our streets, and to bring federal dollars home to our communities—where we need them most,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer. “My office will do everything we can to help communities through the application process to make sure our law enforcement officers have the resources they need to keep New Jersey families safe while improving the return on investment our District sees for the federal tax dollars we pay.”
Mayors, Councils, and law enforcement administrators are encouraged to contact Gottheimer’s office at 201-389-1100 for guidance and support.
Applications for this grant program are due on July 10, and application instructions can be found HERE.
