FORT LEE, NJ — Today, November 11, 2024, U.S. Congressman Gottheimer (NJ-5) honored Veterans Day and all those who have served and sacrificed for our nation, delivered remarks at the Fort Lee Veterans Day Ceremony, and advocated for better care for North Jersey’s veterans.
Video of Gottheimer’s remarks can be found here.
“It is our duty as Americans not only to honor all soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen and women — but to do everything we can to fight for them when you return. The battlefield demands allegiance to country, to fundamental values, to the thirteen stripes and fifty stars. So, on this Veterans Day, on behalf of the Fifth Congressional District, I honor you and thank you for everything that you have done.” said Congressman Gottheimer (NJ-5). “Of course, the fight for our democracy and our veterans is far from over, there is much more to be done, and I will never stop fighting for you.”
Gottheimer was joined by Bergen County Commissioner Joan Voss, Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich, Fort Lee Council President Harvey Sohmer, Fort Lee Councilman Brian Drumgoole, Fort Lee Councilwoman Ila Kasofsky, Fort Lee Police Chief Matthew Hintze, Fort Lee Fire Chief John Klein, and VFW Cairola-Barber Post 2342 Commander Toni Lione.
