BERGENFIELD, NJ — During Filipino American History Month, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) took part in the first annual Barrio Fest in Bergenfield, honoring and celebrating the North Jersey Filipino American community with food, music, performances, and more.
The Fest was organized by the Filipino School of New York & New Jersey, Professional Filipino American Youth, local elected officials, and members of the community. Local organizations like AAPI Montclair — a local grassroots 501(c)3 nonprofit that advocates for and uplifts Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders — were present, helping provide resources and information to community members.
“I was proud to help celebrate our incredible Filipino American community here in New Jersey at the first annual Filipino Fest in Bergenfield! Thank you to the Filipino School of New York & New Jersey and Professional Filipino American Youth for all they do for our community,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5).
Gottheimer was joined by Bergenfield Mayor Arvin Amatorio, Bergenfield Councilman Buddy Deauna, and members of the North Jersey community.
