DEMAREST, NJ — Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) visited Demarest Middle School to speak with students about the importance of curiosity, civic engagement, and stepping up as leaders in their communities.
During his visit, Gottheimer engaged with students in a discussion about their role in shaping the future and encouraged them to stay informed, speak up, and participate in the issues that matter to them.
“Our country is strongest when people stay engaged and look out for one another,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “No matter your age, your voice matters — and the choices you make today can help shape the future of your community and our country.”
Speaking about his own experiences growing up in New Jersey and his path to Congress, Gottheimer discussed the importance of working together, listening to different perspectives, and finding common ground to solve bipartisan problems. The visit included conversations with school leadership and reflects Gottheimer’s continued effort to connect with students across New Jersey’s Fifth District and inspire the next generation to get involved.
Gottheimer closed out the conversation by encouraging students to stay curious, lead with empathy, and have the confidence to make a difference in their communities.
