BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) administered the oath of office for Bergen County Commissioner Rafael Marte.

“During the pandemic, Rafael led the charge to deliver food to veterans, seniors, and others who needed it most. While doing so, he was able to spread helpful, lifesaving information about vaccines, where to get them, and provide Bergenfield residents with ways to safely navigate life during the pandemic. Rafael has also worked to develop speed humps in Bergenfield, helping protect kids and families across the community. Rafael is always looking out for his community, especially veterans. There is nothing more important than getting the backs of those who had ours. That’s why Rafael works to ensure that our veterans receive the benefits they’ve earned and deserve,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) about Commissioner Marte.

Gottheimer was joined by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco, Bergen County Commissioner Tom Sullivan, Bergen County Commissioner Joan Voss, Bergen CountyCommissioner Germaine Ortiz, Bergen County Commissioner Mary Amoroso, Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton, Bergen County Clerk John Hogan, State Senator Senator Joe Lagana, State Senator Gordon Johnson, and local elected officials.
