NEWTON, NJ — U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) toured Atlantic Health System’s Newton Medical Center and met with hospital leadership to discuss improving access to health care, supporting our health care workers, and ensuring New Jersey families continue to receive the high-quality care they deserve.

During the visit, Gottheimer toured the Newton facility and sat down with Atlantic Health System President and CEO Saad Ehtisham to discuss the challenges facing our local hospitals, including strengthening workforce recruitment and retention, the impact of new technologies like artificial intelligence in health care, and opportunities for Congress to better support hospitals and patients across New Jersey.

Atlantic Health System is a nonprofit health care network made up of seven hospitals and more than 20,000 team members and 5,440 affiliated physicians, serving more than half of New Jersey across 14 counties and 7.5 million residents.

“I’m grateful to President and CEO Saad Ehtisham and the entire Atlantic Health team for welcoming me to Newton Medical Center today,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “Our hospitals and health care workers are the backbone of our communities, caring for Jersey families every single day. I’ll keep fighting in Congress to lower costs, expand access to care, and support our health care providers so they can continue delivering world-class care here in Jersey.”

Gottheimer was joined by Atlantic Health President and CEO Saad Ehtisham, Hackettstown and Newton Medical Center Chief Medical Officer Geralda Xavier, Hackettstown and Newton Medical Center Chief Nursing Officer Danielle Giovanniello, nurses, and Doctors.
