FAIR LAWN — Today, July 19, 2022, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) toured flood damage from this week’s torrential thunderstorm and emphasized the importance of investing in climate-resilient infrastructure. Gottheimer was joined by Fair Lawn Councilmember Gail Rottenstrich.
“My heart goes out to every single Jersey family and business damaged in the flash flooding from this week’s thunderstorm. It’s clear that our changing climate is making these storms worse. We must focus on investing in climate resilient infrastructure for our North Jersey towns and boroughs that need it most, which is why I fought so hard to shape and pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. Our historic legislation includes investments for beefing up our climate resiliency to deal with the flooding, fires, and storms— resources that are clearly needed here in North Jersey,” said Congressman Gottheimer (NJ-5)
In Fair Lawn, three individuals in three separate cars had to be rescued by first responders after being trapped in more than three feet of water.
