“More than 425 days ago, on October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists carried out the deadliest attack against the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Hamas terrorists brutally murdered, raped, burned alive, and kidnapped more than 1,200 people including 47 Americans. Today, one hundred people are still being held hostage inside Gaza, including seven Americans.
Since this horrific tragedy, our key democratic ally, Israel, has faced relentless attacks. Make no mistake, Israel and her people are engaged in a war of survival on seven fronts against Iranian-backed proxies that seek her annihilation, destruction, and the death of Jews. No nation can sit idly by while under direct attack, and Israel has every right to defend herself and her citizens. Israel did not start this war, but will defend her citizens against those that seek its demise.
Amnesty International’s most recent slanderous claims follow its long-standing, historically biased position against Israel and the Jewish people. In fact, Amnesty International, which has previously rejected the legitimacy of Israel’s founding, admittedly and nefariously created its own definition of the legal term “genocide” in their report simply to fit their defamatory narrative. Their allegations are in line with misinformation that has been spewed by Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran — the U.S.’ shared enemies with Israel. Amnesty Israel has even rejected these accusations as biased and predetermined, while Amnesty International continues to mislead the public by standing with the narratives produced and promoted by Hamas, a U.S.-designated terrorist organization.
Let’s be clear: Hamas puts innocent lives at risk by using Palestinian civilians as human shields while firing repeated attacks against citizens of Israel. Hamas terrorists hide in schools, store weapons in mosques, and build tunnels under homes and apartments. This war would be over today if Hamas terrorists laid down their weapons and released the hostages. Just this week, Israel once again released a new proposal for a temporary pause. False statements about Israel’s conduct in its war of self-defense rewards self-proclaimed genocidal terrorist organizations intent on destroying the Jewish state and murdering Jews everywhere.
These claims also embolden Israel’s enemies in their mission to undermine the democracies of both the United States and Israel. The promotion of this misleading report will further threaten the safety of the only Jewish nation in the world and undermine those working to achieve the safe return of all hostages. The US has and will always stand with our close ally, Israel, against Iran and its terrorist proxies.”
