NORTH JERSEY — Today, October 12, 2023, ahead of Hamas’ “Day of Rage,” U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) held a security call with local religious leaders and law enforcement officials to ensure New Jersey communities have the resources they need. While there are no confirmed threats against New Jersey, Gottheimer held the call out of an abundance of caution.

Gottheimer informed local faith leaders of resources available for assistance, and law enforcement officials provided information on security measures being taken in their communities and across the state.

“With the war in Israel, I know that there’s a lot of questions and concerns around parochial schools and houses of worship about tomorrow, and the days and weeks ahead. We’re holding this call to ensure our communities have all the necessary resources and information they need to stay safe,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5).

Gottheimer was joined by Director of NJ Office of Homeland Security Laurie Dolan, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes, Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton, Sussex County Sheriff Michael Strada, and Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart.
