RELEASE: Gottheimer Calls on Republican Leadership to Bring Bipartisan Resolution to Floor Next Week Condemning Bigot Streamers Hasan Piker & Candace Owens

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, August 25, 2026, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) is calling on Republican leadership to immediately bring his bipartisan resolution with Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) condemning hate-filled, anti-American, antisemitic rhetoric from online personalities, including Hasan Piker and Candace Owens, to the House floor for a vote next week.

This follows recent comments from Twitch streamer Hasan Piker suggesting that American Jews who support Israel are “making antisemitism worse” and warning that “eventually someone will come around and take action” against them. 

“Hatred is hatred, period. I said it months ago with Rep. Lawler, and Piker has proved it again,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “Telling millions of followers that Jewish Americans are bringing violence on themselves is blatantly antisemitic and one of the oldest tropes in the book. This is exactly why we introduced this resolution, and there’s no excuse left for Republican leadership to keep sitting on it. Anyone still supporting or campaigning with these personalities is complicit. Let’s bring the vote to the floor.”

Gottheimer and Lawler introduced the resolution in April after Hasan Piker and commentator Candace Owens spread antisemitic conspiracy theories and hate-filled rhetoric to millions of followers. Piker’s latest comments — targeting Michigan State Senator Jeremy Moss by name while suggesting Jewish Americans invite violence against themselves by supporting Israel — have drawn bipartisan condemnation.

The resolution reaffirms the United States’ commitment to combating antisemitism and ensuring the safety and dignity of Jewish individuals and communities both online and offline.
