WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) joined his colleagues in cosponsoring a resolution recognizing this week as National Future Farmers of America Week, celebrating the vital role that agricultural education plays in preparing the next generation of farmers in our country.

NJ-5 is home to over 1,000 farms, which play a critical role in ensuring Jersey families have access to quality, affordable food. New Jersey is home to more than 3,000 active FFA members.

“Food and agriculture production is the third-largest sector of our economy here in Jersey — and I am lucky to have more than 1,000 tremendous farms in New Jersey’s Fifth District. I’m proud to cosponsor this bipartisan resolution recognizing the critical role and impact that Future Farmers of America plays in preparing our next generation of young farmers,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “I will always fight for bipartisan solutions to support Jersey farmers and our next generation pursuing careers in agriculture across the country.”

Gottheimer has championed efforts to support farmers and agriculture, including the Veteran Agricultural Apprenticeship Act, which would give loans to farmers and ranchers who provide mentorship and employment opportunities for veterans. In Congress, Gottheimer is also a member of the bipartisan Future Farmers of America Caucus, which works to strengthen agriculture education across the country and support the FFA program.
