Today, January 16, 2023, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) honored Martin Luther King Jr. Day with civil rights activist Theodora Lacey by helping pack food for those in need with the Community Baptist Church of Englewood.

“It’s no secret, here in our community — and our entire country — we have faced incredibly trying times in recent years. From the pandemic, hate, and extremism, to assaults on our democracy and voting rights. Even though it might seem like the challenges we face are so big and so loud, if we all lift our voices together in unison — for justice, for opportunity and for good — I know our voices will be heard, in words and in deeds. For, as Dr. King said, we must pray with our feet and in service. We must take action,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5).

Gottheimer was joined by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy, Bergen County Commissioners Tracy Zur and Mary Amoroso, Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton, Englewood Mayor Michael Wildes, Englewood Councilwoman Dr. Lisa Wisotsky, Englewood Councilman Kevin Wilson, Englewood Councilman At Large Charles Cobb, Pastor Lester Taylor Jr., civil rights activist Theodora Lacey, and Center for Food Action Executive Director Patricia Espy and Director of Special Events Nicole Davis.
