ALPINE, NJ — U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) commemorated Memorial Day with the Alpine community, paying tribute to the service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our great country.

“Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that freedom carries a price — one paid and protected by generations of Americans who chose service over self and duty over comfort,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “We have a responsibility to honor their memory with action. We honor them by supporting our veterans and military families, by defending democracy and freedom, and by working every day to build a country worthy of their sacrifice.”

Gottheimer continued, “Even in our most difficult moments, this nation has always moved forward because courageous men and women were willing to stand up, step forward, and sacrifice for others.”

Gottheimer has been a strong supporter of veterans and their families throughout his time in Congress, fighting to expand access to benefits, mental health care, and resources for service members and Gold Star families.
