RELEASE: Gottheimer Hosts 100th “Cup of Joe with Josh” Town Hall
Discusses bipartisan Unity Commitment, work to protect victims of financial abuse, and new efforts to restore SALT
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, September 26, 2024, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) hosted his 100th “Cup of Joe with Josh” Town Hall on Facebook Live to take questions from constituents.
Gottheimer discussed an array of topics with constituents including:
- His new bipartisan “Unity Commitment” which commits Members to respecting the results of the 2024 presidential election, attending the inauguration, and serving as a voice for calm, regardless of who wins.
- The “Unity Commitment” builds on previous efforts from 2021 when Representatives Gottheimer, Bacon, and Members of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus released Principles on Elections and the Electoral College.
- New bipartisan action and legislation to help put an end to financial abuse.
- Far too many victims are trapped in abusive relationships where a domestic partner has utilized financial abuse to — often unknowingly — destroy their credit, incur substantial payment expectations, and even be sent into bankruptcy. As a result, victims are often left unable to get a job, rent an apartment for them and their children, lease a car, or get their own credit card or affordable loan.
- His new SALT comment portal, urging North Jersey residents to submit their feedback on the importance of SALT.
“Today marked a momentous occasion — 100 ‘Cups of Joe with Josh!’ No matter where I am — in Jersey or Washington — these live conversations help me connect directly with constituents and answer their questions. Over the years, we’ve spent hours upon hours together, discussing everything from restoring the SALT deduction to childcare, constituent services, supporting Jersey businesses, and protecting our veterans,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “I’ll never stop fighting for Jersey’s fifth. We must continue to make life more affordable, protect those most in need, and preserve the integrity of our elections.”
