WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Wednesday, July 24, 2024, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer announced that he is hosting the Alexander family — parents of American hostage Edan Alexander — as guests for  Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s address to a joint session of Congress. Gottheimer is also part of Netanyahu’s official Congressional Escort Committee.

Yesterday, Gottheimer met with more than a dozen American hostage family members  and Members of Congress to discuss the importance of bringing all the hostages, including Americans, home now.

“I’m honored to host the Alexander family as my guests at Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s address to a joint session of Congress. With no updates on Edan’s whereabouts or condition, I cannot imagine the uncertainty and pain they’ve experienced for nearly 300 days as their son remains kidnapped by Hamas terrorists,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5), the only Jewish Member of the New Jersey Congressional Delegation. “It blows my mind that this isn’t talked about every single day in this country. We have to make sure that Americans never forget that Americans are still being held hostage as we speak.”

Gottheimer recently returned from a trip to Israel and the United Arab Emirates, where he met with senior-level officials and leaders from both countries where he met with senior-level officials and leaders from both countries regarding ongoing efforts to get the American hostages home, the fight against Iran, Iranian-backed terrorist proxies in Gaza and the Middle East, including Hamas, Hezbollah, PIJ, and Houthis, long-term solutions toward a two-state solution, the Israel-Hamas war and ongoing efforts related to the global fight against terror, and the importance of the U.S.-UAE relationship and their role in the region.
