WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, December 23, 2024, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) announced he is joining six bipartisan Congressional agriculture caucuses to continue his work supporting hard working farmers, access to quality & affordable food, and the next generation of leaders in Agriculture. Gottheimer joined the bipartisan Agriculture Research Caucus, the bipartisan Congressional Agriculture Trade Caucus, the bipartisan Future Farmers of America Caucus, the bipartisan Food Recovery Caucus, the bipartisan Farmer’s Cooperative Caucus, and the bipartisan Congressional 4-H Caucus.

“Food and agriculture production is the third-largest sector of our economy here in New Jersey — and I am lucky to have some tremendous farms in my District. I will always fight for bipartisan solutions to support our farmers and our youth interested in agriculture across the country, while also helping to ensure access to quality and affordable food,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5).

Gottheimer joined the:

  • The bipartisan Agriculture Research Caucus which is cochaired by Representatives Jim Baird and Jimmy Panetta.
    • The Caucus is dedicated to topics related to agriculture research, innovation, and mechanization efforts.
  • The bipartisan Congressional Agriculture Trade Caucus is cochaired by Representatives Jim Costa, Jimmy Panetta, Adrian Smith, and Dusty Johnson.
    • The caucus works to advance and promote policies vital to U.S. agriculture, including boosting agricultural exports, facilitating food and agriculture trade, and knocking down unnecessary trade barriers.
  • The bipartisan Future Farmers of America Caucus which is cochaired by Representatives Tracey Mann and Jimmy Panetta.
    • The caucus works to build strong career and technical education legislation; maintain a youth perspective in agriculture and nutrition policy; and work to strengthen the relationships between Congress and agricultural education teachers, FFA members, and other leaders in food and agriculture.
  • The bipartisan Congressional 4-H Caucus is cochaired by Representatives Collin Peterson, Cathy McMorris Rogers, Henry Cuellar, and Jeff Fortenberry.
    • The caucus works to support the 4-H program and cooperative extension, create educational opportunities for youth in 4-H to learn how the U.S. government functions, and encourage greater and better-informed involvement in the political process.
  • The bipartisan Food Recovery Caucus is cochaired by Representatives Chellie Pingree and Dan Newhouse.
    • The caucus works to promote food waste reduction across the food supply chain, provide educational opportunities to congressional members and staff, support efforts to reduce food waste at federal agencies, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to highlight food recovery success stories.
  • The bipartisan Farmer’s Cooperative Caucus is cochaired by Representatives Jim Costa, Amy Klobuchar, Sam Graves, and John Thune.
    • The caucus works to support public policy and programs that protect and enhance the ability of farmers to join together to form cooperative associations to improve their income from the marketplace, manage risk, and strengthen their bargaining power, allowing individual producers to better compete globally.
