BERGENFIELD, NJ — U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) joined hundreds of North Jersey community members at the official groundbreaking ceremony for Congregation Beth Abraham’s new building and renovation. The expansion project will include a new beis medrash in loving memory of Donny Morris, a social hall, new youth rooms, and an expanded and updated sanctuary.
The community also remembered the tragic loss of Donny Morris, of blessed memory, who was a dedicated student of his faith and a cherished member of the Bergenfield Jewish community.
“Today is a day to celebrate the growth of Congregation Beth Abraham and of our community,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer. “It is because of shuls like Congregation Beth Abraham that the strength of our Jewish community remains and why North Jersey continues to be a great place to live and raise our children.”
Gottheimer has previously worked with Congregations like Congregation Beth Abraham to help secure federal investment to boost security against threats, and to help ensure that houses of worship across the Fifth District have the resources they need to protect themselves, so that our families can continue to practice their faith freely.
Gottheimer was joined by New Jersey State Senator Joe Lagana, New Jersey Assemblymembers Chris Tully and Lisa Swain, Bergenfield Mayor Arvin Amatorio, Bergenfield Councilwoman Ora Kornbluth, Bergenfield Councilman Rafael Marte, Bergenfield Hernando Rivera, Bergenfield Councilman Thomas Lodato, Beth Abraham President Michael Wiederkehr, Morah D’Asrah Rabbi Yaakov Neuburger, Assistant Rabbi Tanchum Cohen, Mashpia Rabbi Moshe Tzvi Weinberg, members of Beth Abraham, and the North Jersey community.
