WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) joined a Telephone Town Hall with thousands of Fifth District seniors this week to provide updates on the war in Israel and the Speaker of the House election, and to discuss Social Security, Medicare, prescription drug costs, senior scams, the State and Local Tax (SALT) Deduction, and veterans issues.

“AARP’s telephone town hall allowed me to connect with thousands of Fifth District seniors, even while I’m voting in Washington. What’s clear to me is that we need to look out for our seniors by protecting Social Security and Medicare, lowering prescription drug prices, strengthening protections and safeguards from financial crimes and scammers, restoring our State and Local Tax Deduction, and getting the backs of our veterans who have sacrificed so much for us,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “North Jersey seniors make invaluable contributions to our community and I’ll always work to make their lives more affordable by cutting taxes, lowering the cost of prescription drugs and healthcare, and helping them access the Social Security they’ve earned.”

Gottheimer was joined on the telephone town hall by Director of Advocacy for AARP New Jersey, Evelyn Liebman.
