TEANECK, NJ — Today, November 25, 2021, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) joined volunteers in serving Thanksgiving lunch in Teaneck to local veterans, seniors, first responders, and families in need.  Josh also recognized and honored Janice Preschel, who founded the Helping Hands Food Pantry in Teaneck that has served countless families over the more than a decade that it has operated. Gottheimer presented a flag that he had flown over the United States Capitol building in Washington DC for her, to her family.

Gottheimer was joined by volunteers, Teaneck Mayor Dunleavy, and members of the Teaneck Council.

“Thanksgiving is not only a time to come together with friends and loved ones and to celebrate everything that we have to be grateful for, but it’s also a time to look out for our veterans, seniors, first responders, and those in need,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “It’s important to come together and find ways to give back to North Jersey and help those who may not be as fortunate. Together, with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and local community leaders, that’s exactly what we were doing here today. Thank you to all the incredible volunteers who’ve helped support this important cause and made it possible.”

The Veterans of Foreign Wars’ mission is to provide support and camaraderie for veterans of overseas conflicts. They do this by implementing a variety of high-quality, professional support programs for veterans to aid them in their rehabilitation efforts. They also conduct outreach work to support local military and veteran families throughout North Jersey.
