RELEASE: Gottheimer Leads 91 Bipartisan Members Urging Speaker to Bring Senate National Security Supplemental to Vote
Underscores importance of aid to democratic allies across the world. In wake of Iran’s unprecedented attack on Israel.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Last night, April 14, 2024, U.S. Representatives Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) and Joe Wilson (SC-2) led and sent a bipartisan letter signed by 91 Members of Congress urging Speaker Mike Johnson to bring the Senate’s Supplemental Aid package to the House floor for an immediate vote on Monday, April 15th, 2024. The package provides crucial security aid to U.S. allies, Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, to equip them against global adversaries — Russia, Iran, and China.
On April 13th, 2024, Iran launched hundreds of ballistic and cruise missiles and drones on the United States’ key democratic ally in the Middle East, Israel. Ukraine has faced constant bombardment by Russia since it staged an invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
The Senate Supplemental Aid package, which passed by a bipartisan vote of 70-29 in February, delivers more than $95 billion in aid to U.S. allies Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. More specifically, the package includes $60.06 billion in security assistance for Ukraine, $14.1 billion in security assistance for Israel, $9.15 billion in humanitarian assistance for Gaza and Ukraine, and $4.83 billion for the Indo-Pacific, including Taiwan.
The signatory list of 91 bipartisan Members of Congress includes Reps. Gottheimer (NJ-5), Wilson (SC-2), Pelosi (CA-11), Hoyer (MD-5), Allred (TX-32), Amo (RI-1), Auchincloss (MA-4), Bishop (GA-2), Bonamici (OR-1), Boyle (PA-2), Brownley (CA-26), Brown (OH-11), Budzinski (IL-13), Carbajal (CA-24), Carter (LA-2), Case (HI-1), Casten (IL-6), Cherfilus-McCormick (FL-20), Cohen (TN-9), Connolly (VA-11), Costa (CA-21), Courtney (CT-2), Craig (MN-2), Crow (CO-6), Cuellar (TX-28), Deluzio (PA-17), Eshoo (CA-16), Espaillat (NY-13), Frankel (FL-22), Foster (IL-11), Gallego (AZ-3), Goldman (NY-10), Hayes (CT-5), Himes (CT-4), Horsford (NV-4), Hoyle (OR-4), Jacobs (CA-51), Keating (MA-9), Kilmer (WA-6), Kim (NJ-3), Kuster (NH-2), Landsman (OH-1), Larsen (WA-2), Lee (NV-3), Levin (CA-49), Magaziner (RI-2), Manning (NC-6), Meng (NY-6), Moskowitz (FL-23), Moulton (MA-6), Nadler (NY-12), Nickel (NC-13), Norcross (NJ-1), Pallone (NJ-6), Panetta (CA-19), Pappas (NH-1), Pascrell (NJ-9), Peters (CA-50), Pettersen (CO-7), Phillips (MN-3), Porter (CA-47), Quigley (IL-5), Ruiz (CA-25), Ruppersberger (MD-2), Ryan (NY-18), Sarbanes (MD-3), Schiff (CA-30), Schneider (IL-10), Scholten (MI-3), Schrier (WA-8), Sherman (CA-32), Sherrill (NJ-11), Slotkin (MI-7), Soto (FL-9), Spanberger (VA-7), Stanton (AZ-4), Stevens (MI-11), Strickland (WA-10), Suozzi (NY-3), Swalwell (CA-14), Sykes (OH-13), Titus (NV-1), Torres (NY-15), Torres (CA-35), Trahan (MA-3), Trone (MD-6), Vargas (CA-52), Veasey (TX-33), Wasserman-Schultz (FL-25), Wild (PA-7), and Williams (GA-5).

The members continued, “We urge you to put the Senate Supplemental Aid package on the floor for an immediate vote when we return on Monday. This aid package passed the Senate with 70 votes, Democrats and Republicans, and we can send it to the President’s desk for signature Monday night.”
