RELEASE: Gottheimer Leads Resolution Recognizing Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISI) Week 2022
NORTH JERSEY — This week, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer, an Associate Member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), is helping introduce a House resolution recognizing September 26 to October 2, 2022 as Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISI) Week.
This week commemorates the achievements of AANAPISIs and their work to provide quality educational opportunities to Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) students.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the AANAPISI program, which was first authorized in 2007 through the bipartisan College Cost Reduction and Access Act to improve the availability and quality of education programs to serve AANHPI and low-income students.
“Our proud Asian American and Pacific Islander residents are a critical part of North Jersey’s strength and I’m so proud to represent such an incredible community,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5), an Associate Member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC). “As I help introduce the resolution honoring AANAPISI week, I remain committed to working with both sides of the aisle to expand access to educational opportunities for future generations of our Asian American and Pacific Islander community. High-quality education and career training are key to protecting and creating good-paying jobs in every sector of our economy, and are essential to train the workforce and the citizens of tomorrow.”
