WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) met with New Jersey mayors, Hope Township Mayor Tim McDonough, Elizabeth Mayor J. Christian Bollwage, and Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler, to discuss the ways in which federal and local officials can work together to make life more affordable, tackle homelessness, and invest in affordable housing.

The mayors, who traveled to D.C. for a meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Homelessness Task Force, discussed measures to expand veteran eligibility for housing vouchers and increase funding for housing choice vouchers, which provide rental assistance. For years, Gottheimer has led the way to support America’s homeless veterans, leading an amendment that passed unanimously through the House to unlock new housing funding for veterans at the state level.

“It was great to meet with mayors from across Jersey to discuss how we can make life more affordable. combat homelessness, and make housing more affordable,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “I’m doing everything that I can at the federal level to claw back housing investment for Jersey and support our local leaders. By working together, we’ll deliver results for Jersey’s veterans and hardworking families.”

Gottheimer was joined by Hope Township Mayor Tim McDonough, Elizabeth Mayor J. Christian Bollwage, and Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler.
