Protecting Our National Security and Financial Security from Foreign and Domestic Threats

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) was named as the Vice Chair for the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development and Monetary Policy within the House Financial Services Committee.

“I’m honored to be named Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development and Monetary Policy at a time when the safety and security of our nation and our financial systems are at a critical juncture,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “We’re facing rapidly evolving foreign and domestic threats, homegrown violent and ISIS-inspired extremism, as well as a surge of hacking and cybersecurity attacks. Cryptocurrencies are relatively new to the scene and also pose a series of new and evolving threats. We must protect the American people and our financial system from our adversaries, at home and abroad. I’m grateful to the Chairwoman and Chairman and my colleagues for this honor and look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find common ground.”

In Congress, Josh serves on two Committees, including the House Financial Services Committee, where he is a member of the National Security, International Development and Monetary Policy Subcommittee and the Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets Subcommittee. Gottheimer also serves on the House Homeland Security Committee, where he is a member of the Intelligence and Counterterrorism Subcommittee and the Transportation and Maritime Security Subcommittee.

Gottheimer is also Co-Chair of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, where he works to bring the group of 29 Democrats and 29 Republicans together across party lines to find areas of agreement on key issues facing the nation.
