RELEASE: Gottheimer Punches Back Against Far-Right Funding Plan That Screws Over Jersey
WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, March 11, 2025, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) released the following statement punching back against the far-right continuing resolution (CR):
“Far-right extremists are jamming through a dangerous government funding plan that completely screws over hardworking Jersey families, seniors, children, veterans, and our entire state.
This disastrous move rips food assistance away from tens of thousands of seniors, does nothing to protect Medicaid and Medicare, and gives the green light to the Trump Administration to haphazardly shut down Social Security offices that process checks and benefits. Extremists in Congress are even turning their backs on those who served our country by cutting essential support for veterans exposed to toxic burn pits — critical support that I helped secure through the PACT Act.
Why are we giving extremists a blank check to cause even more chaos?
Instead, we should be protecting these vital services, getting the backs of our families, seniors, and veterans, making life more affordable, and standing up for our Jersey Values.”
