RELEASE: Gottheimer Reunites North Jersey Vietnam & Family of WWII Veterans with Service Medals

FAIR LAWN, NJ — U.S. Congressman Gottheimer (NJ 05) reunited Vietnam Veteran Walter Enright (Vietnam) and family members of World War II Veteran Alexander Kajor with medals earned during their service. Gottheimer also flew an American flag over the United States Capitol in their honor.
“One of the biggest honors of my job is to help veterans like Walter Enright, Alexander Kajor, and their families get the recognition they deserve for giving so much to our country.” Said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ 5). “We must always get the backs of veterans who have fought so hard to protect our lives and freedoms”.
Vietnam Veteran Walter Enright:
- Walter Enright served in the U.S. Navy.
- In his 2 years of service, he went to a total of 243 patrols & was involved in 12 firefights.
- Gottheimer reunited with his Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V”, Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat “V”, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Pistol Expert Sharpshooter, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, and an Honorable Discharge Button.
World War II Veteran Alexander Kajor
- Alexander Kajor served in the U.S. Navy.
- Gottheimer reunited his son with his Combat Action Ribbon, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (with one Bronze Campaign Star appurtenance), World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Reserve Discharge Button, Honorable Service Lapel Pin (Rupture Duck).
- Kajor was aboard the light cruiser USS Marblehead. When fires swept the ship after being hit, Alexander helped put his shipmates onto life rafts while the Japanese planes were shooting at them.
- Alexander Kajor’s medals were accepted posthumously by his son, Ronald Kajor.
