WASHINGTON, D.C.  — Today, Sunday, January 28, 2024, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) released the following statement on the three service members killed in Jordan in a drone attack last night:

“To the family and loved ones of the service members killed last night by Iranian-backed terrorists, my heart is heavy for your loss. I will hold you in my thoughts and prayers. These patriots stood bravely on the front lines to keep us safe from terror and to protect the freedoms and values we cherish.

As a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, every day, I see the malicious work of Iran and its network of terrorist proxy groups they directly command, from Hamas to Hezbollah to the Houthis. It is clear that their sole objective is to wreak havoc, create violence, cause instability, and cowardly murder service men and women protecting our democracy and way of life.

I am confident that the President will hold those accountable who perpetrated this heinous attack on our service members. We must send a clear and decisive message to Tehran and its terrorist proxies around the globe: There will be consequences for your attacks against our country.”
