WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) released the following statement following President Trump’s first day in office:

“Last night, President Trump unleashed a wave of executive actions that will gut environmental protections and our global climate leadership and make our country less safe. He even pardoned 1,500 lawless thugs — who attacked our brave police officers on January 6 with an American flagpole in an attempt to undermine our democracy and freedom.

These priorities fall far short of addressing the real needs of our nation. They do nothing to lower costs for Jersey families and only further divide us with hate and fear.

From the beginning, I have said that I’ll work with anyone to make life more affordable for Jersey families.

But let me be clear: As President Trump begins his second term, I will always fight back whenever he attacks our Jersey Values.”
