OAKLAND, NJ – Today, Sunday, January 5, 2020, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) administered the oath of office to Oakland Mayor Linda Schwager.
Also sworn in today were Councilman Robert Knapp, Councilman Grant Van Eck, and Oakland Volunteer Fire Department officers: Secretary Timothy DeBlock, Fire Engineer Leigh Dodd, Fire Engineer Christopher Hoitsma, Lieutenants Daniel DeRisi, Jeffrey Pereria and Cesar Arredondo, Captain Vinney Incorvaia, Captain Matthew Sorce, Assistant Chiefs Gary Walker and Lewis Thurston, and Chief Vincent Dies.
“Linda has been a proud Oakland resident for 46 years and her resume is so impressive that, if I told you everything she’s accomplished, we’d be here till 2021. It’s also incredible that we are all here today for the start of Linda’s third term as Mayor,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) today. “Linda brings to Oakland her great experience as a teacher, twenty-five years experience practicing law, and all her dedication to volunteering and community service. Thanks to Linda, the Borough of Oakland has worked together to address residents’ concerns and to ensure that the community continues to be a safe, secure, and prosperous environment for all our families. Under her leadership, Oakland serves as an example of government working as it was intended, a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
