LODI, NJ — Today, Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) toured storm damage from Hurricane Ida in Lodi with Mayor Scott Luna and Deputy Mayor Vincent Martin. During the visit, Gottheimer highlighted federal emergency storm relief resources now available from FEMA for individuals in Bergen County and Passaic County.

“This hurricane has devastated the lives and livelihoods of so many here in North Jersey, and I’m working with our local officials to ensure that everyone impacted has access to the federal FEMA and state level resources that they need,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer. “The damage from this storm is an unfortunate reminder of just how important it is that we pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill by September 27th, so that we can start investing in major climate resilience measures to protect our communities from natural disasters and the impacts of climate change.”

As of this week, FEMA has approved a Major Disaster Declaration for several New Jersey counties, including Bergen County and Passaic County. FEMA is still evaluating damage from the storm and may add additional counties at a later date.

Assistance from FEMA may help individuals affected by a disaster take care of necessary expenses and serious needs that cannot be met through insurance or other forms of assistance.
