RELEASE: House Passes Critical Provisions Led by Gottheimer to Support Veterans Finding Jobs in Supply Chain, Law Enforcement, Transportation
Gottheimer’s Provisions in Bipartisan Defense Investment Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, the House of Representatives passed new provisions authored by U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) in the bipartisan annual defense investment bill, to support career paths for veterans for law enforcement, supply chain, and transportation jobs.
Gottheimer’s provisions passed by the House as a part of the bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act include:
- Training for members of the Armed Forces transitioning to civilian life for employment within our nation’s supply chain and transportation systems — by boosting investment in the U.S. Department of Defense SkillBridge Program.
- Implementing law enforcement hiring programs for members of the Armed Forces transitioning to civilian life — by boosting investment in the U.S. Department of Defense SkillBridge Program.
“Our nation’s brave service members and veterans have put their lives on the line to defend our freedom, our families, and the greatest democracy the world has ever known. There is nothing more important in this job than my responsibility to have the backs of those who have served our country — whether that’s at the VA, helping with a mental health issue, or helping a veteran get a job when they come back home,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “That’s why I introduced these bipartisan provisions that the House just passed this week, to invest in training and hiring our brave service members who are transitioning into civilian life for careers in law enforcement, supply chain, and transportation. This bipartisan legislation will help our veterans, help support local law enforcement, and help improve our nation’s supply chain — a win-win-win.”
