U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) visited Habitat for Humanity’s Bergen County ReStore in Westwood to help those in need, as part of his “Josh on the Job” tour promoting local businesses and organizations in North Jersey. ReStores are independently owned and operated by local Habitat for Humanity organizations, with proceeds used to help those in need build stability, self-reliance, and shelter in local communities and around the world. These nonprofit thrift shop-style home improvement stores and donation centers sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, and building materials to the public at a fraction of the retail price.

“Thank you to Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County for the tireless hours you work to support those in need throughout North Jersey. All of your projects, from your nonprofit ReStore shops to your Affordable Homeownership Opportunity For Veterans program, help show the world what unites us as opposed to what divides us,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “I’m honored to have been able to help lend a hand at the Westwood ReStore, helping those in need throughout our community access low-cost solutions to home improvements.”

Gottheimer was joined at Habitat for Humanity’s Bergen County ReStore by Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County Executive Director Teri Capparelli.

Last year, Gottheimer joined Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County to celebrate the completion of a brand-new home for a deserving veteran and his family. Through their Affordable Homeownership Opportunity For Veterans program, Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County offers 0% mortgages to deserving veterans. As a down payment, veterans are required to complete 400 hours of community service.

Video of Gottheimer’s visit to Habitat for Humanity’s Bergen County ReStore can be found here.
