FAIR LAWN, NJ — Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) visited Carson’s Cookie Dough in Fair Lawn to meet with the owner and staff to highlight the importance of supporting small businesses that are creating inclusive job opportunities and training for individuals with disabilities.

During the visit, Gottheimer toured the bakery and storefront, learned about the company’s operations, and spoke with employees about their experiences working in an inclusive environment that provides hands-on job training and workforce development.

“Carson’s Cookie Dough is an incredible example of Jersey grit and compassion in action,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “They’re not just running a successful small business — they’re opening doors and creating real opportunities for individuals with disabilities to thrive in the workforce. That’s exactly the kind of innovation and leadership we need more of across our communities.”

Carson’s Cookie Dough is dedicated to creating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism. The business provides real-world job training and experience to help individuals build skills, confidence, and independence, while contributing to the local economy.

In addition, the company donates a portion of its proceeds to organizations supporting the differently-abled community and is committed to expanding employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Gottheimer regularly visits local businesses across New Jersey’s Fifth District as part of his Josh on the Job series to hear directly from employees, owners, and customers about the issues impacting their work and their communities.
