WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, June 24, 2022, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5), a member of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus, released the following statement:

“Today’s Supreme Court decision devastatingly overturns a woman’s right to choose — in a horrific breach of personal privacy and freedom that puts a woman’s life and health at risk.

We must always oppose any attempt by those in Washington or around the country to roll back the clock and stand between a woman, her doctor, and her faith, when making personal health care decisions.

This dangerous ruling ends fifty years of precedent and will have grave widespread consequences.

A vast majority of Americans support upholding a woman’s right to choose. In New Jersey, we protect — and will continue to protect — a woman’s right to choose.

In Congress, the House has already voted to codify Roe v Wade and it is high time the Senate does the same.”
