STATEMENT: Gottheimer on Planned Attack Targeting White House, Pro-Israel Members of Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, June 16, 2026, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) released the following statement:

“Today, we learned the FBI disrupted an alleged plot to massacre Americans on the White House grounds. The targets included Members of Congress, singled out for their support of Israel. This is a stark reminder that anti-Israel hatred has been far too normalized in our politics, with real and deadly consequences.

Let me be clear: targeting Americans because of their support for the U.S.-Israel alliance stems from antisemitism, plain and simple. I commend the FBI and law enforcement for their swift action to disrupt this plot.

As a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, I have requested an immediate classified briefing on the full scope of this case.

Enough is enough. Political violence is not protest — it is terror. Every leader in every party must say so. The temperature must come down now.”
