STANDING WITH THE ARMENIAN PEOPLE

Action: This resolution states that it is U.S. policy to (1) commemorate the Armenian Genocide, the killing of 1.5 million Armenians by the Ottoman Empire from 1915 to 1923; (2) reject the notion  the U.S. government made  efforts to deny the Armenian Genocide or any genocide; and (3) encourage education and public understanding about the Armenian Genocide.

Action: This bill provides for a review of sanctions with respect to Azerbaijan.

Result: Referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and in addition to the Committee on the Judiciary, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.

Action: This resolution condemns Azerbaijan’s blockade of the Lachin Corridor to Nagorno-Karabakh (also known as Artsakh). The resolution also calls on the President to (1) suspend military and security assistance from the United States to Azerbaijan, until they take steps to cease all uses of force against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

Action: This resolution calls on the government of Azerbaijan to immediately return all Armenian prisoners of war and captured civilians. The resolution also urges the Department of State to engage with Azerbaijani authorities to accomplish this. .
